Observerations from my side of the couch

I orignially started this mid-week last week.  Thought because I got up early I would finish it off this morning.  Can’t sleep anyhow.  It’s nearly 5am anyways.

Wednesday afternoon:  Traffic sucks.  Two days in a row…sitting in backed up traffic. Yesterday I was taking K to her therapy appointment. Traffic was stopped because some dude wanted wanted to jump off the bridge after a police chase. I feel for the dude but….dang….we needed to get to K’s appt.  Of course 15 min late.
Now am on my way to my therapy appt and yet another crash/hang up…..gonna be late again. I don’t do late very well.
Yes I am typing this while sitting waiting in traffic. Lol
6 minutes until my appt. Great.  Just heard on the radio…semi roll over. Great!!!

People have way too much anger when driving.  I’m just impatient…not angry. Turn up the radio…KTIS!!!!

Anxiety has been high today. UTIs are horrible.  Going to the doc again tomorrow to get new antibiotics.
——————–

And so the traffic decided to move.  Therapy is done.  I picked up K. We are home.  She’s now in bed. I am done writing my paper on the parts of the brain. I think my brain is dead now.  Lol

Will continue tomorrow. (yeah right)

——————

It’s now early Monday morning.  K and I went to my mom’s this weekend.  It was good to get away for awhile, but like K said last night…..it’s good to be home where we belong.  Aint’ the the truth!!!

So we brought in all the stuff from the car (note: TONS of stuff).  Got just about everything put away…well not put away away but out of the living room.  I got to working on my paper on “the brain” for my class.  Totally forgot I was supposed to volunteer for Church Online at 8pm at LifeChurch.tv!!  oops!!  My brain musta been too involved in the paper!!  It’s done anyway….a day late.  Hopefully my prof won’t notice?  LOL

Onto a few things I have learned this past week:

Driving 2 hours with a 9 year old, wanting to listen to “her” music, over and over and over, will actually drive you nuts!!  So much I can take of “Take A Hint”.  I will post that video at the end.  You can see why.  LOL

Time spent with my mom is amazing.  She is funny and oh so wise (most days).  She can do like 20 things at one time and make it all seem so effortless.  She got a belated birthday party set up in less than 5 hours.  Cake was cool (Hello Kitty,of course).  K had fun opening another couple gifts.  Don’t grandma’s give the coolest gifts?

Trying out spray color on hair is always exciting. (note sarcasm).  It turned my hands pink, K’s face pink, and the comb pink.  Here is the outcome:

She looks fab, I must say!!  Even got a great smile without a dorky tongue sticking out.  LOL

(she’s growing up too fast too)

Sunday’s with family is always an adventure.  Tiny spilled his coffee on the Sunday paper.  He laid it out on the stove to dry.  I was thinking….”OMG…it’s gonna start on fire”, then mom said, it’s a pilot-less stove top”  unlike what we had when I was growing up.  LOL

Went to church at good ol’ Deer Creek Lutheran.  Pastor Lance is a hoot.  His is an amazing pastor.  He is an Army Chaplin also.  Spent time in Iraq and (I think Afghanistan .  Wrote a book about it too.  Meditations from Iraq

He is so very funny and wise.  Cracks me up when he speaks.

He wore those funny glasses, with big nose, eyebrows and mustache yesterday.  Wind it up and they move.  Giggle giggle and snort!!

My daughter has accumulated so much stuff, I think we need a small UHaul to bring it all back here.  Needless to say, we will be working on her room this week…or rather I, ME, will be.  She says she can’t do it “all by herself”  LOL

So there are a few thoughts from my side.  Enjoy the video of take a hint.  Don’t laugh too hard.  I think it’s a funny but cute song.  Could play it for a few guys I have dated in my lifetime.

Life and Everyday

Life as I know it today

Feeling so blah today.  It’s probably the weather.  Been cloudy and rainy and dreary.  Guess we all need some days like this.  I went to the chiropractor this morning.  It didn’t hurt as bad as it has in the past.  Maybe my low back and hip are finally getting together and being ok.  Now it’s the knees that are achy.  Darn arthritis.  I hope that going to Summit Orthopedics will help next week.  Going to try some natural pain relief stuff I hope.  don’t know what that includes.  Probably more PT which is ok by me.

Unpacked some boxes today.  I think about 6 or 7 of them actually, which is pretty good for me in one day.  Ran some of the dishes through the dishwasher as some looked kinda grungy from sitting for 6 months in storage.  Dishwasher works well. YAY!!    I need to find more of my pans and such.  I think I know where they are.  Will do more tomorrow.  I also need to try to arrange some furniture in my living room.  it’s all in the middle…makes it hard to walk around  LOL.  I need to get K’s bed made and stuff like that.  Her room is pretty ok for the most part.  Need to hang pictures and such…but that will come in time. As will the pictures on all the walls.  Gotta arrange the furniture first.  My bedroom is a pit.!!  lol  That will be my last room to organize.  Getting the tv and computers up and in the right spots will be more important.  Especially when K gets here on Saturday.  I have a massage thing tomorrow in Sillwater at 10:30 am then PT at 1.  so after that, I get my butt back to work.  Also need to contact Dakota County about child care referrals.  I need someone to watch K while I am at school for a few hours on Tuesday and Wednesday.  If I can’t find anyone, I will try to get her in the day program over at the YMCA.  I have to finish the paperwork and get that in.  Maybe will run that over tomorrow between appointments.

Life is good here.  Just am finding I am really tired and run down.  Between the physical pain, fibro, lupus stuff, and just plain doing too much.  I am way exhausted.  It’s a thunderstorm night, I am hoping that will help me sleep good.  I love good thunderstorms.  To me they are pretty relaxing as long there isn’t a tornado involved.  :s

Friendships are changing lately.  So much all at once for me.  People had been friends long ago, whom I haven’t seen in 20 some years are now making judgments of me.  I don’t know where they are getting their information as I haven’t spoken to them directly.  But I have prayed, talked to my trusted friends, and prayed some more.  It’s time to let go.  My past does not define who I am today.  Yes it has some bearing on who I am as if I didn’t go through it, I wouldn’t be as strong as I am today.  In therapy this week, Adam and I processed some of this stuff.  The same is true with family.  Sometimes my past seems to crop up and bite me in the butt.  But I have to keep things in perspective….that is who I was THEN, it’s not who I am NOW.  I believe that I am a better person now.  There is more to me than who I used to be.  I have made some better choices in regards to changing my attitude and doing better.  Changing my thinking has been a huge part of this change.  I know that I make mistakes.  I try to learn from them and move on.  I can’t change the past.  I can only do better in my future.  That is the good thing about God.  He forgives me.  He loves me the same as He did yesterday.  He is by me no matter what happens.  He still is my God.

If you want to hear some good news about changing perspectives….join me LifeChurch.tv this week.  It’s week 2 of the series on Changing Perspectives.  It’s been pretty hitting the nail on the head for me.  This week is changing your thoughts.  Changing the way you think.  The link is http://live.lifechurch.tv/  come and see what it’s all about.  I volunteer on Saturday evenings at 6:30pm, Sundays at 8pm, and Wednesdays in the evening.  I volunteer with LifeChurch.  It has made a huge difference in my life.  I hope you will come and check us out.

Week 2 :  Forget You

I am Less, He is More – Sam Roberts

FORGET YOU
I AM LESS; HE IS MORE

He must become greater; I must become less. John 3:30

HOW DO I BECOME LESS AND HE BECOMES GREATER?

IT’S NOT A FORMULA; IT’S A JOURNEY.

“Never make a principle out of your experience; let God be as original with other people as He was with you. “
Oswald Chambers

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind… Romans 12:2

We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5

“Watch your thoughts for they become words. Watch your words for they become actions. Watch your actions for they become habits. Watch your habits for they become your character. And watch your character for it will become your destiny!”  Margaret Thatcher

HOW DO I RENEW MY MIND?

1.  RENEWING MY MIND INVOLVES SPENDING TIME WITH GOD!

He must become greater; I must become less. John 3:30

2. RENEWING MY MIND INVOLVES DAILY OBEDIENCE!

Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone to obey him as slaves, you are slaves to the one whom you obey —whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?  Romans 6:16

MY CLOSENESS TO GOD CAN BE MEASURED BY THE TIME IT TAKES FROM HIS COMMAND TO MY OBEDIENCE!

THE TORTURED SOUL

  • WE ARE NOT A BODY WITH A SOUL.
  • WE ARE A SOUL WITH A BODY.

Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain fromsinful desires, which war against your soul. 1 Peter 2:11

WHAT TORTURES OUR SOULS?

1) WE’RE TORTURED BY THINGS WE’VE DONE.

…my bones have no soundness because of my sin. 4 My guilt has overwhelmed me like a burden too heavy to bear. Psalm 38:3-4

2) WE’RE TORTURED BY LIES WE BELIEVE.

…[The devil] was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. John 8:44-45

TELL YOUR SOUL

1) IT’S BETTER TO CONFESS YOUR SINS THAN HIDE YOUR SINS.

He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses andrenounces them finds mercy. Proverbs 28:13

  • We confess to God for forgiveness of sins.

If we confess our sins, [God] is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9

  • We confess to people for healing from sins.

Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. James 5:16

2) CHRIST WILL SET YOU FREE.

No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. 1 Corinthians 10:13

He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sinsand live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed. 25 For you were like sheep going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd andOverseer of your souls. 1 Peter 2:24-25

SOUL DETOX

THE HEAVY SOUL

  • WE ARE NOT A BODY WITH A SOUL.
  • WE ARE A SOUL WITH A BODY.

Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Psalm 42:5

WHY ARE OUR SOULS HEAVY?

  • HEAVY WITH HURTS FROM THE PAST.

19 I remember my affliction and my wandering, the bitterness and the gall. 20 I well remember them, and my soul is downcast within me. Lamentations 3:19-20

  • HEAVY WITH TROUBLE IN THE PRESENT.

But now trouble comes to you, and you are discouraged; it strikes you, and you are dismayed. Job 4:5

  • HEAVY WITH ANXIETY ABOUT THE FUTURE.

…[Jesus] began to be deeply distressed and troubled. 34 “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death…” Mark 14:33-34

Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and 6 my God. Psalm 42:5-6

TELL YOUR SOUL TO

  • REMEMBER GOD’S FAITHFULNESS IN THE PAST.

19 I remember my affliction and my wandering, the bitterness and the gall. 20 I well remember them, and my soul is downcast within me. 21 Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: 22 Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. 23 They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:19-23

  • CRY OUT TO GOD IN THE PRESENT.

I pour out my complaint before him; before him I tell my trouble…

5 I cry to you, O Lord; I say, “You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living.” 6 Listen to my cry, for I am in desperate need.

Psalm 142:2, 5-6

  • TRUST IN GOD’S POWER FOR YOUR FUTURE.

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged because of the king of Assyria and the vast army with him, for there is a greater power with us thanwith him. 8 With him is only the arm of flesh, but with us is the Lord our God tohelp us and to fight our battles…” 2 Chronicles 32:7-8

Good Friday

Today is Good Friday….I saw a cartoon thing on Facebook the other day saying something like, I don’t understand why they call it good friday when a man was hung and died for me.  I wouldn’t call that good.

In the literal sense, nope, not good.  But in the Christian sense….God is so good.  Jesus died for ME.  How awesome is that.  He carried all of our sins and died for us….so that we can be free.  The best thing of all is that He raised up on Sunday….amazing!!!  His loves overcomes all!!  He loves us all….THAT MUCH!!!  I really like Easter season for all this…..not about bunnies and eggs and chocolate (though that is a bonus sometimes).  But the realization that God loves us.  Jesus died for us.  He rose and overcome death.

If you want to watch some awesome worship and a super message for Easter….starting tonight at 10 pm CST at http://live.lifechurch.tv/   .  Pastor Craig is awesome.  Last year’s Easter services were just amazing.  I can’t wait to see what is in store for this weekend.  Awesome music…awesome message!!

————————————–

Yesterday I traveled back to the Cities for a few appointments.  I had to get a B12 shot and then got a B1 shot as well.  That one left a bruise on my arm.  Gotta love it.   My 8 month check up at the U of M was great.  I have lost a total of 105 pounds now.  I have been at a plateau for a few weeks.  I think cuz I am not as active…or not in my routine from back home.  Being with K has kept me busy but not in the way I was when I was home.  I am not out walking everyday or swimming at the Y.  I need to get back on track.  I can’t believe my 3 weeks with K is coming to an end.  I so love being with her all the time.  Mom will be back later today from their trip.  I will be here though, until next Wednesday.

K and I will be hitting the grocery store this afternoon to get the fixin’s for Easter dinner.  We decided to cook for grandma and grandpa and J.  We are gonna make some cool desserts and a great fun dinner too.  Ham, sweet potatoes, glazed carrots, another salad, and crescent rolls.  For desert, fancy cupcakes and a strawberry dessert.  NO CALORIES at all.  LOL

Gotta get the eggs decorated and the place cards made too.  It will be a fun couple days with K getting stuff done and cooking and stuff.  She is a good helper and stuff.

It’s sunny but cool here in North Iowa this morning.  Was in the 30’s when I got up…but now sitting at 45.  I hope it gets a tad warmer.  I love spring.

Met with counselor Adam yesterday.  Talked about anxiety and relationships and stuff like that.  I have been having some anxiety attacks lately.  Along with the fibro stuff…makes for a bit of a cranky Julie.  LOL  I wish pain wasn’t a factor of my life every day.  It really makes me want to just sit as still as I can and do nothing.  Gotta keep moving.  Expected to do that.  Again and again.

Anyways, Have an excellent weekend.  Blessings to all.
